[dropcap letter=”O”]PENING DAY! (Just in time for Mockingjay Part 2!) – I was invited to attend an afternoon giving members of the media a glimpse at the brand new ArcLight in Santa Monica. Growing up in Santa Monica, I’ve seen a great many transformations take place at Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place. As much as it’s grown and evolved, it has been lacking a true movie going experience and I was thrilled when ArcLight decided to change that. With a menu that is far better than nachos and popcorn, you can get everything from blanched almonds to ahi poki atop a rice crisp and even pork belly sliders, no movie goer will have to rush off to grab a bite before a movie (or after!) In addition to an extensive menu, their wine, beer and cocktails on hand are pretty swell too. This afternoon we tried the “Audrey”, “Whiskey Sour”, and an ode to Spectre 007. The cocktails are priced at $11 with a selection of local beers and wines to please the more refined palates. (You can take a look at the photo gallery below to get a few glimpses of the menu …)
In addition to their menu, cocktails, wine and beer, they also have an impressive selection of art lining the corridors of the theater.
All in all, this is a beautiful addition to a place many call home. Now when you need a place to go and watch a movie, you have a much better option! ArcLight Cinema is officially open. You can book your seats ahead online at: www.ArcLightCinemas.com

Dawn Garcia is an LA born and bred Hispanic Latina. Growing up in a mixed race family that assimilated, and another that didn’t really allow for curiosity, the culmination of both became the driving force for pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and devoting her life to the fight for equality and social justice. In a quest to go against the grain, she started writing at a very young age to process trauma and better understand her innate desire to live out her free-spirited nature. She is a journalist and screenwriter who has developed original TV series’ and films. Her genres of choice are drama, dark comedy, and comedy. Her strengths lie in empathetic story lines, descriptors and dialogue — both natural and raw — and while diffused with humor, inevitably she hopes to show the thread that connects us all.
She is currently developing a comedy TV Series for MGM Studios/Gato Grande Productions. She is a mother, an activist, and lover of life.
More than just a girl, Gwen Stefani has blossomed from her humble beginnings as the lead vocalist in Ska band No Doubt playing greasy garage shows on the weekends to a worldwide fashion icon. After recording a solo album, winning World’s Best-Selling New Female Artist in 2005, debuting her own clothing line and starting a family of four, she still has time to live the platinum blonde life.
