LA Art Show 2025 // the Power of Art

DIVERSEartLA, Carlos Martiel

Celebrating 30 Years of LA Art Show, including eight powerful exhibitions by DIVERSEartLA with a bold retrospective

A Visionary Exhibition Honoring Diversity, Inclusion, and the Unstoppable Power of Art

The LA Art Show has become a place we flock to. The emotional depth of the curated exhibitions, the through-line that creates a story of people told by those brave enough to share, it’s one of the moments every year that offers a glimpse into humanity. As the LA Art Show celebrates its monumental 30th anniversary, the transformative platform DIVERSEartLA, curated by the incomparable Marisa Caichiolo, returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center from February 19–23, 2025. A testament to the platform’s unwavering commitment to amplifying marginalized voices, the 2025 edition promises a stunning retrospective—a compelling journey through eight years of groundbreaking art and advocacy.

Born from the necessity to challenge norms and amplify diversity, DIVERSEartLA stands as a beacon of representation, a call to action, and an unflinching reminder of the work still ahead. This year’s retrospective offers a rich tapestry of installations, performances, and videos that reflect the platform’s evolution, boldly addressing themes of race, gender, identity, and the fragile complexity of human rights. Each piece invites audiences to engage, reflect, and connect on a deeper level, underscoring the urgency of protecting and advancing equity in the arts.

This retrospective feels particularly urgent,” says Caichiolo. “It’s not just a celebration of the extraordinary work we’ve done—it’s a powerful reminder of art’s role in fostering change, solidarity, and understanding. Visitors will see pivotal moments from the last eight years come alive, reminding us of the transformative power of creativity.”

The 2025 showcase highlights eight iconic installations, each capturing the essence of its time while pointing toward a more inclusive future. This ambitious lineup is complemented by a detailed timeline and catalog, providing visitors with an immersive view of DIVERSEartLA’s impact on the global art community. We were fortunate to talk with Kassandra Voyagis, Producer and Director of the LA Art Show, to learn more about this upcoming 2025 exhibition.

LA Art Show // Diversity and the Power of Art

“The LA Art Show has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Pasadena. What started with just 14 galleries at the Pasadena Convention Center in the early days has blossomed into LA‘s largest and longest-running art show, now held at the LA Convention Center with over 100 galleries from around the world. As national and international interest grew over the years, the show was relocated to its current home at the LA Convention Center in 2009. Over the past three decades, the LA Art Show has pioneered innovative programming and one-of-a-kind experiences for an expanding collecting audience.

We are very proud of the pioneering role we have played in the City’s emergence as a global epicenter of art and culture. The 2025 edition will feature continued collaborations while welcoming new participants with local and international galleries including LICHT FELD Gallery (Switzerland); Gama Gallery (Turkey),  Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery (UK), L.E. Gallery (Belgium), K+Y Contemporary Art (Paris), Casterline|Goodman Gallery (Aspen), Arcadia Contemporary (New York) and Fabrik Projects (Los Angeles).

Unlike other fair’s, the LA Art Show is accessible to a diverse range of collectors, offering an array of price points. This year, the show celebrates its 30th anniversary with the most diverse showcase of global talent yet, featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of galleries and dynamic programming that reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary art. Tickets are now available at www.LAArtShow.com, and attendees can look forward to an immersive and enriching art experience in one of the world’s best locations.

Many of the galleries will be igniting important dialogue around the importance of inclusivity and community.

The upcoming DIVERSEartLA retrospective, curated by Marisa Caichiolo, aims to inspire conversation around the vital importance of inclusivity and community in the arts. This non-commercial educational platform has undergone a transformative journey over the past eight years, born out of a necessity to amplify marginalized perspectives.

The 2025 exhibition will serve as a mirror, reflecting the evolution of DIVERSEartLA’s curatorial vision and highlighting key milestones that challenge the status quo. Each piece will encourage critical conversations around race, gender, and the complexities of modern existence – a sobering reminder that the fight for diverse representation and inclusive rights must remain an active, sustained effort.

Two key partnerships return for the 2025 show, which are Athletes for Life (a nonprofit foundation that aims to improve lives and engage the community through outreach programs) who will continue their youth empowerment programs through art, while the American Heart Association will once again serve as the charity beneficiary, receiving 15% of proceeds from every ticket sold for their Life is Why campaign. These collaborations align with the LA Art Show’s goal of connecting art with community impact.

Opening night event will be on February 19 with details to be announced in January.”

Celebrating Diversity By Chiachio & Giannone

Curated by Gabriela Urtiaga, Chief Curator at MOLAA and presented by MOLAA

  • The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) presents a special installation about diversity and pride in collaboration with world-known Argentinian artistic duo, Leo Chiachio & Daniel Giannone. Artworks featured were created by the artists at MOLAA with more than 3,000 members of the Los Angeles community collaborating in the creation of the flag. In 2019, the banner was carried by over 100 volunteers at the Long Beach Pride Parade.

Dactiloscopia Rosa: Video Art and QUEER Constructions

Curated by Nestor Prieto and presented by Museo La Neomudejar (Madrid, Spain)

  • The exhibition is a chronology of the movement of sexual liberation / LGTBQ in Spain (1970-2016), featuring materials and teachings from the transfeminist/Queer archive of the Museum, showcasing the constructions of social movements in the 70s, 80s and 90s under Franco Dictatorship.

Carlos Martiel | Cauce/Riverbed

Curated By Marisa Caichiolo

  • In his work “Cauce/Riverbed,” the artist exposes the significant challenges faced by immigrants in California and the U.S.. Martiel digs deep into the nature of undocumented immigration and shows how it impacts the lives of some eleven million individuals and their families in the world’s most powerful nation. His performance is a window to the human tragedy that can affect immigrants who come to the United States in search of the “American Dream,” risking their lives in the process.

Viktor Freso’s breathtaking 30-foot Bear Sculpture presented by Danubiana Museum (Slovakia) will be located at the entrance for DIVERSEartLA. The Bear is a symbol of power and resilience, setting the tone for the event as bigger, braver and more ambitious than ever before.

Tickets are available at www.laartshow.com with 15% of proceeds being donated to the life-saving mission of American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign.

For every ticket sold for the LA Art Show from now to February 23, 2025, LA Art Show will donate 15% of the purchase price to the American Heart Association’s Life is Why Campaign, with a maximum donation commitment of $45,000.
