[dropcap letter=”A”]n evening in Los Angeles sticky with heat, the warm residue of summer clinging to our flesh as we saunter into what can only be described as a bon vivant’s pleasure chest. RonRobinson, the flagship store, is a gallery of sorts housing gorgeous designs by designers whose voice is far louder than a stitching on the label. While I implore you to go in there and shop, tonight was all about one brand whose message is simply this:Bare. It. ALL.
It’s not quite what you think. BARE Made. The slogan is all about embracing individuality and celebrating the uniqueness that is – you. Sure, I’m still talking about a line of bags here, but these really aren’t like any bag: Stitched to perfection, these bags have clever hideaway pockets, surprising functionality, carefully chosen fabrics – and they emit a few more characteristics that beckon every true lover of beautiful things: passion, sophistication, and style.
Created by three best-friends who have traveled the world and have been inspired by art, culture, and the sheer fabric of life’s adventures, Grason Ratowsky, Justin Biel and Lo Sampadian have made something that is completely stripped down and the result is something that, when you hold it in your hands, is rather extraordinary. I had the pleasure of talking with Grason Ratowsky about the line. When he spoke about what he and the BARE Made trio designed, the love for what they do is apparent. In essence, they wanted to design a line that epitomized the colorful spectrum of a world so incredibly vast and beautiful that, when bare-boned, represented individuality and the connectedness that is ever present in the textures and fabrics we accessorize our lives with. I could have talked to him for hours and plan to do an interview with him to delve even deeper into the artistic spirit that is so apparent in the Winter and Fall lines.
BARE Collections provide intuitive, functional and durable designs that highlight necessity rather than extravagancy. Behind BARE products lies an understanding that design in its purest sense arises from stripping away excess and keeping only what is necessary.
The entire line has one universal element: it is, without a doubt, timeless. The finely detailed craftsmanship is what sets this apart and quite honestly, I find it impossible not to fall in love with the line. In addition to the inspiration of everything surrounding us, I was also thrilled to meet Jessica Biel tonight. Beautiful both in appearance and personality, it was lovely sharing a real moment about motherhood with her while she graciously posed for a few photos for the Magazine. There to support her brother and the BAREMade line, she was surrounded by friends and family and couldn’t have been more lovely. I will say, she is even more stunning and poised in person.

ABOUT RON ROBINSON
In 1978, Ron Robinson, Inc. opened its doors at Fred Segal on Melrose Avenue, and has grown exponentially ever since. Having worked directly for Fred Segal as a salesman, buyer and then Vice President for nearly a decade prior, Robinson found it to be the perfect time to take his knowledge and expertise and build on the traditions he had learned, as well as make some of his own. Since then, his stores have continually changed the face of shopping and fashion!
Today, Ron Robinson boutiques are located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles as part of the Fred Segal center, and on Fifth Street in Santa Monica as the Flagship location. In the late 70’s, Robinson started with a men’s casual sportswear store grew to offer a variety of hard-to-find labels spanning from local L.A. designers to unique Japanese and international brands. Five years later he expanded with a beauty boutique that he named APOTHIA (a blend of the words “apothecary” and “utopia”) and a children’s store named LIFESIZE. Robinson’s desire to cultivate a shopping experience with key lifestyle and design items – the fashion you live with – created StylObjects.
