Last night I arrived in Austin. Bags in tow, rental car picked up, freeways mastered, and the long FM 150 to Highway 1826 and voila! Salt Lick BBQ, Pecan Grove Pavilion. I arrive to attend the Food & Wine Alliance 3rd Annual Event: Live Fire Challenge! Beef Supremacy & Fire Mastery. With a long line of very talented chefs and pastry chefs, the palate was eager to taste and hungry to satisfy. I tasted just about everything and in the end, it was Sway Thai that won me over.

If there is one thing I know for certain in this life, it’s this: It’s up to us.

The beauty and love the world needs to survive exists in art. Every form. We artists must find the collective sentiment of love and inflict the world with a beauty and truth that cannot be thwarted by hate and fear.

So that’s where I’m at. I have been going deeply inward as of late to really evaluate every aspect of life: motherhood, career, education, partnerships, family, health, financials, friendships, advocacy, activism, and personal wealth and what that means in my world. In the process of the deep dive into my deepest wants and desires, I’ve chosen that the year ahead will consist of achieving these four things:

GRATITUDE
CONNECTION
STRENGTH
POWER

Those four guiding principles will be the pinnacle of 2025 successes.

Like millions, I have struggled with the impending fall of democracy, but I’ve also recognized the community of strength and purpose that exists in my realm. I’m incredibly grateful for the many expressions of love and authenticity that I experience on the regular.

Ultimately, I choose peace and tenacity.

Though they seem like opposites, peace (at least for me) comes only when I know I have a purpose. Tenacity has always been the modality of finding purpose for me. The drive and hunger that lives within me is a beautiful beast of possibility and a vehicle of intention.

I plan to pepper the world around me with light, with accountability, with creative flow, but most importantly - I plan to be a warrior of artists. Not sure just yet how that’ll shake out but I’m jumping in, head first - leaving my feet in a position to lead me where I’m meant to be in this next chapter.

My hope is big. My focus is fixed. My story is being told. My heart is full.

This week one of my dearest chosen family, the fantabulous @redrabbit57 treated me to a concert with @theofficialsting @elewrockjazz and it was the perfect evening among very uncertain times.

The joy and coolness Sting brings to the stage is visible in his political stance, his call to humanity, and his hope for a brighter world. His band mates are equally sublime - and what a wonderful reprieve the evening was. Elew was soul fire! He is a musical genius and the brightest light.

Thank you to @thewiltern for bringing some love to the rest of us and for providing a sanctuary of music and a collective feeling of unity. Most importantly, thank you Sharon for all you are and the sunshine you bring into our world! Love you ♥️
