The evening will support the CMF, whose 14 years of service leads the mission to provide the healing power of music to child patients affected by chronic and life-altering illnesses.  As the music spokesperson, Shana Halligan will help raise awareness about music therapy and the natural healing effects it provides for chronically ill children suffering with pain, anxiety and fear. “I’m so excited and honored to be able to lend my support in its efforts to provide music therapy to those unable to afford it.  From a young age, music has played an influential role in my life and now as a new mom I am thrilled to have the opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives.”  Those attending the concert will be treated to a unique performance from Halligan and her band.

Healing through music therapy has always been founder Dr. Raffi Tachdijan’s mission in helping his patients. Dr. Tachdjian, a musician, allergist and pediatric pain specialist, found CMF in 2002 while he was an intern at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Tachdjian found inspiration in one of his teenage patients, who had failed multiple experimental protocols for the treatment of his bone cancer. Knowing the patient was a virtuoso guitar player,  Dr. Tachdjian was determined to find an instrument to help his patient focus on something other than his disease. Finding none in the hospital, Dr. Tachdjian set out to raise funds to bring instruments and later music therapy to help his patients sooth. About CMF’s spokesperson, he adds, It’s amazing that we have Shana Halligan as the spokesperson for CMF. But the most important thing is that she has a heart of gold, and wants to improve the lives of sick kids through music therapy!”

PRESS

“The singer is giving us Meghan Trainor all All About That Bass feels – only darker and sexier. And we’re way into it!”

– Perez Hilton, Perezhilton.com (3/24/16)

“Let Shana Halligan shoot to the top of your attention. ‘Something Real’ is a slinky, smooth, electro-pop single reminiscent of AlunaGeorge, Hundred Waters, and Son Lux while still treading the delicate intimacies of someone too reserved to overwhelm you with an intense light show.”

— Nina Corcoran, Nerdist (9/16/15)

“Fifteen cuts in all, the tantalizing ‘Something Real’  combines a pop luster and a seductive plastic nature with pure, primal emotion. Halligan’s singing holds in reserve but connects to some deep feeling. ‘Been  Waiting’ suggests real pain; its melodic invention and propulsive beat grab you by the ear, while ‘Take You Home’ with its slow funk and sultry honesty, almost make you think this is a blues album in disguise.”

– John Ephland, DownBeat (November 2015)

“Shana Halligan of Bitter:Sweet is a sultry songstress whose new solo album explores human sensuality through songs of  romance, heartache and longing.”
