A Beautiful Mess

Life has taken so may twists and turns and I have no doubt it will always keep me on my toes. This article may be dated and at a different point in my life and path but it’s message is still so very relevant. This just goes to show you, you never know what life has in store. Throughout my struggles, it led me to create this Magazine and soon evolved into a Radio Show. Live your life, embrace YOU. Be okay with who you are, what you struggle with, and never ever lose sight that there is beauty in all of it.

I’m a big fan of music that surprises me and the first time I learned of Sadie & The Blue Eyed Devils, I knew I was about to experience an entirely different sound. And it didn’t disappoint. Since then, I have become a BIG fan so it’s no surprise how excited I was to have them in the studio playing live for me and all of my listeners and viewers! With an interview and glimpse into what inspired the songs played in the studio, all I can say is – this band is all heart. Seriously. Beautiful, open, willing, and authentic.

Ryan Spencer Reed

Ryan Spencer Reed (b. 1979) is an American photographer whose journey documenting critical social issues began shortly after college when he self-financed a move to east Africa. Working in that region and covering the Sudanese Diaspora for nearly 7 years, Ryan has entered Sudan a half dozen times in addition to covering the mass exodus of refugees to Eastern Chad and Kenya. In late summer 2004, he returned from covering the War in Darfur to produce that body of work for distribution. This work was widely exhibited in the States and abroad. The Soros Foundation’s Open Society Institute awarded him with the Documentary Photography Project’s Distribution Grant in 2006 to help this work reach additional audiences. While exhibiting and speaking internationally on the subject of Sudan, he has begun a long-term project on the hubris of power and the twilight of the American industrial revolution. A chapter of this work on Detroit is currently being distributed.
